Peer to Peer Support Improves Postpartum Depression and Anxiety

Did you know mom to mom peer support can prevent and improve symptoms of postpartum depression and anxiety? Just knowing that someone out there has been through the same experience and survived helped many moms find their way through the darkness. A 2015 study in the Journal of Advanced Nursing found that half of the study participants suffering from Postpartum Depression or Anxiety who received as a little as one phone call or as many 14 calls from peers who had been through similar circumstances improved. It makes tons of sense -- Just knowing they were understood made all of the difference. If you have an interest or want to learn more about becoming a peer support specialist in the area of infertility, pregnancy after loss and /or postpartum depression/anxiety email kimk@wellmamas.net for more information.
